Our bees are very special to us.  The milestones of the calendar year are determined by the needs of the bees.  Beekeeping in the twenty first century is definately more challenging than it was 25 years ago.  In this section of our website, I hope to give a sense of what exactly is required.  I won't try to do this all at once,of course- but as it comes up throughout the year.

 If nothing else, beekeeping is is great exercise---both physically and mentally.  It is an opportunity for laymen to be a doctor, a scientist, a farmer, and a commercial truck driver!--to wear many differnet hats!   Binford Weaver, an eminent Texas beekeeper once said, "A good beekeeper must be able to make good decisions on the spot". - So True. My son, Daniel, and I quite often head out to a beeyard to perform certain tasks in mind, only to do something entirely different- as the bees would dictate!  So,  I hope you will follow us over the next year and experience the many challenges and rewards of being a beekeeper.
